Sydney, Australia, 22 March 2022 – Global Study Partners joins a select roster of businesses and professionals as a finalist, in three categories, for the 9th annual India Australia Business & Community Alliance (IABCA) Awards.
GSP’s CEO, Elaine Starkey, joins five other female leaders as finalists for IABCA’s Businesswoman of the Year. The award recognises women leaders who have built successful businesses or careers over time. Elaine joins an impressive lineup of previous and present finalists from various sectors such as government, banking & finance, higher education, technology and real estate. “I am thrilled that our work aimed at empowering students by providing them with access, expertise and support to study in a university of their choice, anywhere in the world, is being recognised. Our two-sided platform enables accredited education agents to access many of the world’s highly sought-after institutions not just in Australia but in 32 other countries! So really, student and agent options are abundant,” says Elaine.
In the same IABCA announcement, GSP joins other businesses and Not for Profit Organisations as a finalist, alongside Deakin and Melbourne University, for the Excellence in Partnerships Award. This new award category recognises achievements and outcomes of partnering for prosperity between the two nations, India and Australia. Nicole Zabbal, Director of Student Services & Partnerships, shared, “From the start, our key driver has been to uplift students’ lives through global education. Our diverse range of university partnerships have allowed students to access the program and institution that fits their study goals the most. Our unique student support model has enabled us to grow and strengthen these partnerships.”
GSP’s work in India and Australia has also been well-regarded by the IABCA jury enough for GSP to be considered a finalist for Excellence in Trade and Investment. “India – with its strong economic growth, the expanding income mobility of Indian households and it’s tertiary-aged demographic is a powerhouse driving international student mobility and remains at the core of our global expansion strategy,” adds Kevin Morgan, GSP Chief Operating Officer. “GSP as a finalist in this category is a recognition that aligns with our priorities.” GSP started its India operations six years ago with its first employee, Shivali Mehendale.
Today, GSP employs 46 staff in India across nine offices. GSP continues to position the business model to meet India’s needs in the education sector by offering access to some of Australia’s highly-regarded universities and vocational education providers. GSP’s top-line growth plans include expansion in emerging student markets and doubling the current staffing numbers by the end of 2022. IABCA received nearly 200 nominations from businesses and professionals across eleven award categories. The complete list of IABCA’s 2022 Global Finalists is available here.
